On July 26 th 2024,our school organized an extempore competition to enhance the oratory skills of our students. The event aimed to provide students with a platform to express their thoughts spontaneously and confidently on various topics.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students across grades 6 and 7. Each participant was given a random topic and a few minutes to prepare before delivering their speech.
The topics covered a wide range of subjects, including:
1. The impact of technology on education
2. Importance of environmental conservation
3. Role of sports in personal development
4. Influence of social media
5. The significance of climate change
6. Importance of time management.
The event began with a welcome speech by Swati maam, who emphasized the importance of extempore in developing critical thinking and effective communication skills. The judges, comprising teachers –Ms. Gayathri, Ms. Prema, Ms. Divya Rani and Ms. Shamayel were introduced and given a warm welcome.
Participants were called to the stage one by one. Each student had two minutes to prepare and two minutes to speak on their assigned topic. The speeches were evaluated based on content, poise, clarity of thoughts, pronunciation and overall impact.
The competition was tough, but a few students stood out for their exceptional
performance:
First Place: Charvi Prasad (Grade-6)
Adhya and Sarah Fathima (Grade-7)
Second Place: Hansika (Grade-6)
Gagan (Grade-7)
Third Place: Spurthy Raj(Grade-6)
Likhita (Grade -7)
The extempore competition was a resounding success, highlighting the oratory talents of our students. It provided them with a valuable opportunity to develop their public speaking skills and think on their feet. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms Gayathri, who encouraged students to continue honing their speaking abilities.
